Its the last day of Term 1 at the kid's school today and it happens to be Logan's teacher last day as she is moving away to the UK. So Logan has been asking us to make thank you cookies for his teacher as he has really enjoyed having her as his class teacher for this term. So we made a very simple set with a new honey cookies recipe, which we just tried out and really loved! We have posted a tutorial on how to make the stubby pencil in our previous blog post when we made another Teacher's set for their school principal, if you want to check it out you can click HERE. However this time we took step by step photo tutorial for the crayons and the little roses, which was borrowed from Sugarbelle designs :) Here is how you make the stubby crayons (similar to what Crayola's crayon looks like). Very simple, flood the cookie with blue icing, and let it dry. Then add the middle black icing and squiggly lines on top and bottom of the crayons (see picture below). Something went funky with our blue icing and it went a bit grainy as you can see below....but luckily it works with how crayons really look like, so we leave it as it is :) For the simple roses, we made it using strawberry cookie cutter as we didn't have any roses cutter. We just cut the tip as we were cutting the dough (sorry i forgot to take a photo of it). First step is to flood the rose area with red icing and let it dry. Then with a stiff consistency icing, made the swirly rose buds (see photos below), then lastly add the 3 little leaf at the bottom using any leaf tip you have. That was all, very simple and yet very effective for a thank you cookie set :) Here is the set we have packaged up for Logan's teacher. Hope Ms. Stephenson will have a wonderful last day at school today! We will miss you and thank you for being such a great teacher :)
