We received a special request to make Arlo cookies, these cookies are a surprise present for one lucky little girl :) Seeing that we have not even seen the movie we have to scour the net to see images of Arlo and trying to think of how to make him as we don't have any Arlo cutter either :) The request came thru pretty late and seeing that we were in the midst of working on another batch of cookies we weren't sure that we could fit it in, but I'm so glad we did coz i think they turn out really cute! Hope the little lady will be pleased to see this Arlo cookie set ;-) So this time we remembered to taking tutorial photos, here are the set while they were still in progress... Lets start with the cookies with just the top of Arlo's head. Mark the outline of Arlo with an edible marker, then with an outline consistency piped the black icing to make the shape of Arlo (see picture below for a clearer detail). After the black icing is dry, start putting the green flood icing, please make sure you leave the area for the eyes alone, and let it dry. Then lastly piped white flood icing onto the eyes and let it dry. The use dark brown icing to make the outer area of his eye pupil, when the brown icing is dry add the black of the eyes then a dot of white. The next one is to make the full body Arlo, now this one is a bit more trickier...we also start with marking of the area we want to fill in with edible marker. Then start filling his body with green icing, but leave some parts blank like the areas for his eyes and his toenails. Lastly we put the stripes on his back and outline the whole body with black edible markers. Then put the same steps as above to make his eyes, piped white flood icing, let it dry, and then add brown icing and black icing with white dots for the pupil of the eyes. The next one is Spot, this little guy was a little bit tricky but quite fun to make as i love his hair :) Start the same way as the others, mark the area with edible food marker. Then cover the outline with black icing. First fill his face & body area with skin colour icing, remember to add white flood icing in the middle for his eyes while the skin colour icing is still wet. Then pipe brown icing for his hair. Lastly add his facial features, mouth, eyes, nose & eyebrows with a thick brown edible marker. That was all the tutorial photos that we took during the progress of making these Arlo cookies. They have been packaged up ready to go to the one lucky special little lady ;-) Lets hope this will make her day as this is going to be a surprise present :)
