Star Wars Cookies - May the force be with you!

We can finally blogged these cookies as they have finally arrived at their destination in Canada today :) We made these cookies specially for Angie & Ben :) I was told that their sons loves Star Wars and after seeing the latest movie we just knew we wanted to try making the new BB8 Android with this set :)

Seeing that we don't have BB8 cookie cutter we have to be a bit creative and do a bit of  frankencookie-ing. Some of you might not know what 'frankencookie' means...well, it's when you take two or more cookie shapes and put them together (before baking) to make an original cookie shape! And that's how the term came to be lol :P

Okay so to make BB8 we need a 2 different size circles,

Once they are baked we can start  with flooding them with white icing and let it dry. Then start with

For Darth Vader, we actually have a fondant cutter in his shape as we used it for my dear hubby's birthday cake last year, however when we compare him with the Stormtrooper cutter that we got given (Thanks to Patty Mac Cookies for gifting it to us all the way from Sydney :P) we found that Darth is a bit too small. Here is a quick comparison picture of the two cutters :)

So we were looking at alternatives...after digging our cookie cutter drawers we found a onesie cutter that could work, we turn it upside down and a bit of a snip on top...viola, Darth Vader! :)

To decorate Darth, its pretty simple, flood the cookie with black icing and let it dry. We mark the areas for his mask with edible marker and then using a stiff grey icing pipe all the details of his mask.

For the Stormtropper we mark off the area for the eyes and the bottom of the mask with an edible marker. Then flood the area with white icing and let it dry. After the white base icing is dry then start piping the details of the mask with outline consistency black icing.

So one set of cookies will have a Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, BB8 & a round name plaque :)

So there you go, we hope they will be thoroughly enjoyed by the boys :) I'm amazed that they arrived totally intact with no damages, so totally awesome! Hope you like them Jaden, Devin & Tristan! ;-)
