Yesterday was the last day of school for this term and Logan made a special request to say thank you to his class teacher. He wants me to make a small cookie gift to give to his teacher as he has really enjoyed having her as his class teacher this year :) His request was pretty last minute, but because it was so sweet and thoughtful, I managed to squeezed in his request and finished the cookies the day before yesterday. He was really happy and proudly brought these cookies to school for his teacher yesterday :) I love decorating the apple with banner, the icing was so puffy and shiny when they were wet :P I have taken the step by step photos below. Step 1: With medium consistency red icing, fill the top and bottom part of the apple and while the icing is still wet, use a white medium consistency icing to make polkadots, let it dry. Step 2: Fill the middle area with white medium consistency icing - see the second picture below, and let it dry for 5-10mins. Step 3: Continue to fill the rest of the white banner on each side with the same white icing, and let it dry Step 4: With outline consistency white icing outline the outter sides of the banners to give it more dimension. It also makes the banner popped a bit :) Step 5: With black outline consistency icing, write the teacher's name in the middle of the banner. For the pencil, it was pretty straight forward: Step 1: Use cream colour medium consistency icing to fill the top of the pencil, and use a grey colour medium consistency icing to fill the area between the body of the pencil and the eraser - see the first picture on the far left side below. Step 2: Fill the body of the pencil with yellow medium consistency icing and with the same 'wet on wet' technique like the apple, dotted white medium consistency icing all around the yellow icing while the yellow icing is still wet. Step 3: Fill the eraser part with pink medium consistency icing. Step 4: Use a black edible pen to colour in the tip of the pencil, and with an outline consistency grey icing put the squiggle lines in the grey part of the pencil. Step 5: Lastly, pipe the 'thank you' writing in the middle with black outline consistency icing. Logan happily report that the gift was very well received and his teacher was delighted with his sweet and thoughtful gift. I hope she likes the taste of the cookie too :) I was told that she will save some to enjoy during the school holidays ;-)

Hi There. Do you outline, wait for it to dry, and then flood or do you use icing firm enough to hold a flood outline and only ice once? Thanks

Hi Deb, we used one medium consistency icing as we are too lazy to make 2 different consistency sometimes :) If you would like to see a video tutorial just so that you can see how we make our cookies please visit our instagram account as we frequently posted a quick video tutorial there. Its easier and clearer to see videos sometimes ;-)

I love the apple cookie and your tutorial! Do you sell the cutter or can you tell me where to find it?
