This is our first time making mermaids, we have been wanting to try this out for a while but never got a chance to do it until now. These batch of cookies were made from strawberry cookies recipe from Patty Mac Cookies, we had the previllege to have her as guest in our house for a weekend of cookie decorating get-together :) She is a very talented lady and also very knowledgeable in cookie decorating stuff, the things that we have learned from her is so totally invaluable. Thank you Patty, you are so awesome! ;-) To make these cuties, we start with filling in face and the tail area. We use skin colour icing for the face (a bit of ivory and a smidgen of pink) and we use "sea green" Progel food colouring for the tail area. Then mark the areas for her body and fill in with the same skin colour icing, let ir dry. The next step is to flood the area for her hair, we used 'Chestnut' progel food colouring and with a stiff icing outline her hair stands. Next we added the white flower (this is a royal icing transfer that we have stashed away) and then add the texture for her tail area. The last step is to add the pink shells on her chest area and paint the tail with a combination of turquise green and yellow gel colours. So that is the step by step decorating progress that i managed to take pictures off...there are a few missing steps that i wasn't able to take a photos as I was in the process of experimenting and trying out new things, hence this is my first mermaid cookies :)
Hope everyone is having a great midweek and that the rest of the week will go smoothly ;-)

Hello. These are so cute. Is there a cookie cutter for them or did you hand cut?? Would you mind if I copied your cookie for my client?
